PhD Entomology, Clemson University

MS Entomology, Louisiana State University

BS Biological Sciences, Virginia Tech

My post-doctoral appointment with the MEM is, at its core, grant writing and teaching. I assist the grant team in securing funds for research, outreach, and curation while teaching Aquatic Entomology and mentoring students in the museum.

Aquatic Research

My focal taxa falls within the aquatic Hemiptera, largely Nepomorpha. I’m cataloguing and updating the taxonomy for southern corixids (Water Boatmen) and exploring questions around wetlands, ditches, and other temporal habitats. Research is not technically part of my current position, but I fit in field work and museum excursions when I can.

Outreach & Extension

During my PhD, the Entomology Club founded the Museums in Miniature project (see our resources page here on the MEM site!) I brought the project with me when I relocated for this post-doc and am working to expand it to Mississippi. My focal groups tend to be the very young (ages 3-7) and retired (Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, etc.), two groups where enthusiasm goes a long way.
