Strumigenys archboldi has been collected mostly from lakeside or riparian habitats in mixed or deciduous forests in FL and GA. This species has a wedge shaped head and narrowed clypeus, much like S. clypeata, S. ohioensis, and S. laevinasis, but differs from those species in that it has a distinct diastema between the basal lamella and the basal tooth.
